She brings the hubby baq to England and denies the marraige.... the hubby (Akshay Kumar) has been shown quite tolerant of his wife'z affair.... he loves her very much..... and during the time he stays there.... manages to confuse the girl about her origins and values and the girl ends up falling in love with the hubby....

the story itself may sound boring... or not very new.. to us south Asians... however the way the film is made makes it interesting... No matter how much we copmplain and what we say, deep down inside we have the ability to do everything. In fact we mostly manage to do things, when they are forced on us.

So why don't we adopt a more positive attitude and try to do what needs to be done. Later if we fail, we can say that we don't want to acomplish the thing.

It has happened with a friend of mine. We were studying a course on World history and my friend continued to say that she couldn't do it, through out the semester. And thats exactly what happened, although she is above average in class, still she did not manage to get a good grade in the subject.

What actually happens it that our words have a deep impact on our personality and attitude. Continously saying it over and over again, we are unable to realize when we start beleiving the small phrase: "I can't do it!"

One minute management lesson

Here a shot managment lesson that we need to learn:

An eagle was sitting on a tree top, doing nothing. This is, however, unlikely to be the case. Most people are passionate about something; the key is to identify it, and then to locate a work context in which it can be expressed. You may find clues by observing the person in question and reflecting on their previous performance. Perhaps they were particularly enthusiastic when running a certain project, organizing a social event, or serving on a committee. Explore which aspects of these roles generated the uncharacteristic level of interest and enthusiasm. For example, maybe they appreciated the “expert” status bestowed upon them as a project leader; or enjoyed interacting with a wide network of people. If these opportunities are not present in their current role, then you have probably determined why they seem dispirited.
If you have never seen any evidence of passion in the workplace, ask your employee about interests outside of work, and try to identify the root of their passion in this manner.
Once you have discovered the basis of an employee’s passion, try to accommodate components of that passion in their job. This could be done, for example, by realigning their current job objectives, offering them a special project, or even moving them into a new job where they can engage their enthusiasm constructively.

Creative Direction
Passion is not always easy to manage. Signs of passion in a team member are often welcome, but not if that passion is inappropriately directed and therefore disruptive to the other team members. Passion needs a framework through which it can be effectively and creatively managed; this requires creating clear individual and team objectives to properly direct that passion. Managerial guidance—for example, reiterating objectives—can help keep enthusiastic team members focused and on track. Additionally, with clearly-stated objectives, an individual’s inappropriate use of enthusiasm can be addressed in performance appraisals, if necessary.

Rewards
It is not difficult to reward a team member for using his or her passion creatively and to the benefit of the organization. In most cases, a simple “thank you” adequately demonstrates appreciation, although a particularly valuable contribution may warrant a more tangible reward. Neglecting to recognize employees’ contribution and energy is likely to cause offense and hurt.
If someone’s passion differs from your own, it is easy to overlook or even devalue it. Make a conscious effort to learn about the passions of each member of your team; doing so in a team-building session allows other members of the team to tap this energy as well. In this way, new responsibilities can be allocated according to natural aptitude and desire—as well as experience and skill—and everyone can take responsibility for creating a high-performing team.
You may find that you are managing team members who have not discovered their own passions. This can happen when an individual enters a career early and/or has never really thought about his or her personal aspirations. Some employees may have never experienced professional tasks or activities that resonated with their personalities. Consider placing these team members into various situations that trigger different aspects of their talent; this should provide them opportunities to explore their nature in more depth. Also, encourage these employees to network in other parts of the business, to discover potential new interest areas. A wide exposure to the business may get them thinking more passionately about future career goals and delivering more value through their work performance.

Reference: http://www.bnet.com/2410-13056_23-55146.html?promo=713&tag=nl.e713

How to recruit the right person!

Put about 100 bricks in some particular order in a closed room with anopen window.

Then send 2 or 3 candidates in the room and close the door.Leave them alone and come back after 6 hours and then analyze thesituation.

If they are counting the bricks...... ......... . .....Put them inthe accounts department.

If they are recounting them........ ......... ......... ......... .........Put them in auditing.

If they have messed up the whole place with the bricks.. Jack wonders whether it would be all right to smoke while praying.

Max replies, "Why don't you ask the Priest?"

So Jack goes up to the Priest and asks, " Father, may I smoke while I pray?" The Priest replies, "No, my son, you may not! That's utter disrespect to our religion."

Jack goes back to his friend and tells him what the good Priest told him.

Max says, "I'm not surprised. The risk to life in case of accidents in smaller cars is much more than those driving big cars:

"Crash test results released on Dec. 18 by the Arlington (Va.)-based Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) show that so-called minicars can leave occupants in serious peril, especially when they collide with much larger vehicles like the ones that populate most American roads. Optional Equipment Becomes Necessary IIHS reported that driver fatality rates in subcompacts are higher than in any other vehicle category. In fact, death rates in minicars are double those in midsize and large cars. Fatalities in single-vehicle accidents, meanwhile, are higher in smaller vehicles than larger ones. The new crash results show that passengers in very small cars can suffer serious or even fatal injury in collisions with other vehicles, particularly in side- and rear-impact crashes. Of the eight vehicles tested, all but one earned ratings of "poor" or "marginal" in at least one of the three tests administered. Models from Toyota, Scion, and Hyundai earned scores of "poor" in side-impact tests; the Chevrolet Aveo, a rebadged Daewoo import, earned a "marginal" score. "

Reference: http://www.businessweek.com/autos/content/dec2006/bw20061219_905974.htm?chan=autos_autos+index+page_news

Smaller cars are increasingly in demand due to rising fuel prices and growing traffic (thanks to ease of leasing). These small cars have been rated risky by security monitoring authorities. Being smaller in size they do not have side airbags; and their structural rigidity prevents penetration.
Among the dangers of accidents; brain damage, serious neck injury, internal organ injuries, broken ribs, and a fractured pelvis are the most common identified.

So to keep your heads on your shoulders you better drive carefully and keep distance!

Waste of time – Men cleverer than women

Recently a study has apparently just found out that men are cleverer than women:

“A study to be published later this year in the British Journal of Psychology says that men are on average five points ahead on IQ tests.
As intelligence scores among the study group rose, the academics say they found a widening gap between the sexes.
There were twice as many men with IQ scores of 125, for example, a level said to correspond with people getting first-class degrees.
At scores of 155, associated with genius, there were 5.5 men for every woman.”

Reference: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/education/4183166.stm

This is no news at all. The countdown has begun!

As much as I await the end of the series I feel sad at the same time. No longer will there be anticipation or wait for the next book in the series.

It will soon all be over. No more imagining or guessing about at the end of reading the latest book. We used to go crazy thinking what will happen next. Making our own predictions; trying to solve the mystery ourselves; writing fan fictions, reviews, and commenting on different possibilities – all this and more will end this summer.

J K Rowling is an amazing writer. The way she links up pieces of information throughout the series is extra ordinary.

Never have I ever read such an imaginative writer who has invented a whole new world which is fairly different from ours’! Complete with a new set of vocabulary and spells Harry Potter series is an amazing piece of work.

Those of you who haven’t read the book and think its childish should give the series a chance. It really is awesome and once you start on it, you simply won’t be able to stop reading!

Jealusy in girls

We are talking about friendship between girls here.

Why are girls so envious of each other? Why can’t they be happy for others? We place our trust in our friends and share our happiness, but instead of rejoicing our happiness they become spiteful. They will start complaining why they couldn’t the same life, life partners, boyfriends, as much money, dressing sense etc. as their friends have.

True the grass seems greener on the other side, but that happens everywhere. I haven’t seen a situation where men are envious of each other. They always support each other and try to help each other through rough times.

In some cases this jealousy is to such an extreme that they actually take practical destructive steps. They simply cannot stand to see another person of their own gender happy.

Girls scandalize other girls. They will do the very same thing themselves but point there fingers on others. Many times I myself have experienced my friends going behind my back and laughing off.

I find that my male friends are much better friends than MOST of my female friends. I don’t have to think twice before sharing my happiness and problems with them. I believe this is because between females there is a general tendency to pretend. Instead of sympathizing females are more prone to laughing behind your back; or rather passing on your story to others.

Why is it so? We find it increasingly hard to believe in love, family, and facts. So practical have we become that we are suspicious of any loving or friendly gestures that anyone displays for us.

I believe we are afraid to take risks and face the consequences. In this world of fraud and falsity, we are no longer aware of the differences in truth and false. We are suspicious of even the long established and self-experienced truths.

Another reason why we find it difficult to trust facts are that today everyday new researchers bring in new facts, new results; easily discarding and denouncing the older researches. Then the increasing number of false claims and innovative ideas to sell products and services have also made us alert, conscious and judgmental.

What are your opinions, why have we become so cynical?

We are all living edgy, uncertain, terrorized lives. Today there are accidents and natural disasters and bomb threats everywhere. Countries engaged in economics wars, attacking other countries for resources and markets. The west lives in terror of the Muslims who are ‘apparently’ terrorists. While the Muslim world lives in terror of being the next target to be accused of terrorism and fear an illegitimate joint attack by the West.

No matter where we are living - be it a Muslim country or otherwise - everybody is living in terror. No body ever knows what is going to happen next. The news is flooded with loss of lives all over the world. Civil wars, war against terrorism, attacks on other countries, illegitimate invasion of other territories are all around us. Where the selfish and heartless humans do not have a hand in destroying a place, nature plays its role – the earthquakes, floods, draughts, Tsunami. Watching or reading news engulfs me in a sense of bleakness.

All these events – floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, civil wars, these ‘so-called’ wars against terrorism – have changed behaviors and social setups to a considerable extent. The uncertainty has led people to become selfish and uncaring of anything else. Many subconsciously have realized the perils and they try to live life for the moment. Terrorized by a thought that there may not be any tomorrow, people are in a hurry to live there lives in the moment. They no longer care about the fact that there actions may be detrimental to the society and even harmful for themselves. People no longer think before they act.

These events have changed the lives of many people directly and indirectly. I know longer feel as happy as I felt before and all this because somewhere in my sub conscience I know people are clinging to dear life. I am not doing anything for them. I ponder if I am entitled to be happy or celebrate, when people are dying, suffering terribly? I cannot bring myself to a state of uncaring attitude. We can’t even imagine the pain that they experience. Should I dream, knowing that there are millions out there whose dreams have been snatched, destroyed? Why am I not doing anything for them? The truth is I feel it easy to say and write, but when it comes to taking practical steps, most of us back out. We do not take out time to touch other people’s lives! Even if we could make just one person’s life better, I believe we could live in peace.

The feeling of making, improving someone’s life alone will reduce the insecurities and anxieties that have become part of our daily lives. They say ‘drops accumulated make a river’. We could make the world a better place by owning up to our share of responsibility to society. And then may be we could take real pride in ourselves, and celebrate life.
